Colette Newby

My Story

Colette brings her love of science, food, and playful learning to Flavourful Science workshops. She first became fascinated by the brain and child development while studying Behavioural Neuroscience at UBC, where she explored how early experiences shape how we learn and grow. She now supports pediatric research at BC Children’s Hospital to improve care for children and families, and also works with kids with autism, building social and emotional skills through imagination and play. Colette loves helping kids feel confident to explore new ideas and notice science in everyday experiences. Outside of workshops, she likes to paint, play pickleball, and explore the outdoors with her dog, Maverick!
